This one is going to be a little different. I don’t know how well it will come out because feelings are really hard to write about. Last year, on November 28, my friend, Lindsey Marie Eyles, passed away from Ewings Sarcoma. It is a rare type of bone cancer. She was 11. You may have seen the page on this site in her honor.

Honestly, I didn’t know her all that well. I would have liked to get to know her better, but I never got a chance too. I regret that more than anyone can ever know. She was a beautiful dancer, filled with spirit and determination. I loved watching her, and I really wish I could have known her better. Her wake was probably one of the saddest things I have ever seen in my life. It was sad, yet beautiful. All the pictures of her and her family and friends…it was sweet…bittersweet.

There was a little poem on a little card we received. I thought it summed everything up perfectly. It is called “He only takes the best”

God saw she was getting tired

And a cure was not to be

So he put his arms around her

And whispered “come with me”

With tearful eyes we watched her

Suffer and fade away

Although we loved her dearly

We could not make her stay

A golden heart stopped beating

Hardworking hands put to rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best

It is so beautiful, so sweet, and so, so true. I also wrote a little thing, shortly after, well…you know. I call it “Life ain’t fair.”

There are times when you realize that life ain’t fair.

That sickness and dying are everywhere

Your best friend gets sick with a rare type of cancer

Now she can no longer be a ballet dancer

She fights through it all, she exerts all her strength

We all try to help her, we’ll go to any length

Its no use, she slowly fades away

Until that moment comes on that fateful day

Now my friend is gone – how can it be

It feels like something is missing from me

That bright light is gone, now my world is dark

Oh how I do miss my beautiful lark

When she was around, I felt I could lift off and fly

But now she is gone, and I don’t know why

The angel by night, the angel by day

She was the type who kept your fears at bay

Now she is truly up there with them in the sky

And she is the one who can lift off and fly

I wish that certain things in life weren’t true

If I could change anything, that’s what I’d do.

Why do things have to be the way that they are?

It’s all very close, though it seems very far.

It all comes down to this one little thing

It’s little, but big, it affects everything

There are times when you realize that life ain’t fair

That sickness and dying are everywhere

It doesn’t seem true, it’s hard and it’s wrong

But it’s close to you, as you’ll see before long

For there are times when you realize that life ain’t fare

And whether you think it’s close or far, you still should care

Life is hard, and life is cruel,

And life isn’t fair, as a general rule

There are bad things in life, as you can see,

But there are good things as well, as it should be

Life will go on, no matter how hard it may get,

And more good things will happen to you yet

Just remember that while life ain’t fair

Good things can be found just about everywhere

She will be and is missed.

New blog from PB: friends

Hey, hey, hey! It’s me, Pixie Bug, creator of this site. This is the first entry in my new blog. I was going to just let Saphire have her blog because she is such an amazing writer, but I realized that there was something I wanted to say. Actually, a couple of somethings. I’m not much of a writer, so I know this probably won’t come out very well, but I wanted to give some advice of my own. You can thank Saphire for giving me the idea. She is kind of my role model. I trust her completely. Actually, that is kind of what I wanted to talk about.

How many of you guys take your friends for granted? Maybe even take advantage of them? I know, your first instinct is to say ‘Not Me,’ but think about it. Are you the type to always confide in your friends? ALWAYS? Or to ALWAYS talk to them about your problems for advice? Well I am, and you know what? I almost lost some of my closest friends because of it. It’s ok to confide in your friends, but remember to give them a little space. You really don’t want them to get annoyed by you. Just take a moment and think about how your actions can come across. Are you too pushy? Do you constantly do something annoying? Are you always in their face? Do you act like you are the center of the universe? Do you listen to their problems or constantly talk about yours? How do they react to you? How much do you really know about them? Ask yourself these questions. Is there something you could be doing better? Maybe you should sit down one day and just LISTEN to your friend. Don’t talk about yourself all the time. Few things are worse than losing a truly close friend.

Friendship, especially true friendship, is extraordinarily important. I would rather have a few really close friends than a ton of kind of close friends. But if you don’t want to lose them, put their needs first, but don’t forget about yourself in the process. I know, its kind of a fine line between pushy or all about you and not being able to make a decision or have a personality. Give them their space, but don’t ignore them. Talk to them about BOTH your problems, but also some positive things too. Don’t lose sight of the big picture, and above all DON’T FORGET TO LISTEN TO WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY!!! Spend time with them, but don’t be clingy. Don’t take over the conversations. Think about how your actions can come across.

I know it sounds like a lot, but really, its not. Just be a good friend. Honestly, it can be summed up in three things:

- follow the golden rule

- follow the pillars of character

That’s it! Now go out there and be a good friend!

Heads up from PB

Hey, hey, hey! It’s me, Pixie Bug, creator of this site. Sorry to intrude on Saphire’s Blog, but I just wanted to let all you faithful readers out there now that I was going to make a little blog of my own, too. I was going to just let Saphire do all the writing because she is so good at it, but then I realized that we both could. She is my role model, and she inspires me. This time, she inspired me to give out some advice of my own. It kind of feels good to let your feelings come out through your words. I really shouldn’t ramble on because this is Saphire’s Blog after all, but I just wanted to give you a heads up. Thanks for reading!

Oh and Saphire, I hope you don’t mind. <

What Makes You Happy?

Posted by Saphire on November 14, 2011 at 7:20 PM Comments comments (1)

I look up at the sky every night and wonder whats up there.

I love the look of the millions of stars that glisten in the sky like a tons of diamonds that had been thrown into the star by some magical force. Its the only thing that helps me get to sleep and makes me happy.

What makes you happy? Maybe the splash of paint on a canvas. Or posibly the wonder of the black and white beauty of the words on a paige. Tell me, I want to know.

Be the *Real* You

Why do we put on acts for other people?

Thats what i want to know. We act like we are someone else all of the time. And for what? To make other people like us,

Now isn't that stupid. Isn't that a stupid reason to not be the funny, truthful, amazing people we really are?

I have an answer for that. Yes. Yes it is. We, as a whole, need to forget what other people might think about us and just BE WHO WE ARE!!!

I mean come on people. How many times have you caught yourself acting diferently when someone else comes in the room (maybe standing a bit straiter or being quieter).

And i know that sometimes it can get hard to control that. Maybe its because you like that person in a *special* way. But thats no excuse for throwing the real you out the window. And if that person really liked you back, they would have to like the REAL you.

Writing. . . Try it now, Thank me later.

I like to write. In fact I wrote that I would like it to be my career in my last post. And that is still true.

Have you ever tried to write something a teacher told you to and had it end up as crap? Well maybe you should try writing something you WANT to write.

Personally, I believe that everyone has a story in them. Even if they dont particularly know how to word it.

Try what i do sometimes (maybe when your teacher is being insanely boring  ;) ;). Just put pen to paper and write. You may surprise yourself with what you come up with.

Try it now. . . . Thank me later. :)

What do YOU wanna be?

What do you wanna be when you grow up?

I know what I want to be. I have three things I want to be able to choose from. An actress. A author. Or an artist. Im good at all of them and I would like to make them my job.

What about you? What do you wanna be when you grow up?

Boys . . . Aren't they just SO confusing?

Posted by Saphire on November 9, 2011 at 9:30 PM Comments comments (3)

I've been having boy problems.

When I said that, did you think of a bubly girl with pigtails? Or a dorky girl with glasses and braces?

Truethfully, I'm niether of those. I'm just a normal girl that goes to a normal school and wishes she could be together with the cute, tall, tan boy that (OF COURSE!) already has a girlfriend.

Well, recently that boy had been dumped by his girlfriend. (Who was the normal, popular type that doesnt own anything that isn't pink.) I saw an oportunity to see if we had a chance. Our school had a dance soon, so i decided to ask him out then. Well, I was just too nervouse for that, so i had a friend ask him for me. She came back with her head shaking. And now its all over school that i like him.

Any advise to save me? (And the posibility of he and i getting together?)

Hopeful and Worried,
